On October 12, 2023, Toei Animation revealed at their panel at New York Comic Con that a new anime called Dragon Ball Daima will be available in the fall of 2024. Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball, was reportedly "extremely committed above his typical capacities" and is given credit for the original narrative, character designs, and artwork in the teaser trailer that goes with it. He was also given credit in a press statement for coming up with the title and designing a lot of the creatures of evil, and supporting characters.Toriyama informed the Comic Con session that while "DAIMA" is a name that was coined,According to Dragon Ball franchise executive producer Akio Iyoku, the series has been in development for a period of five years, but the name was chosen less than a month ago. This is written in Japanese. Toriyama "crafted the whole story," he would later say, adding that Iyoku characterized it as having a "strong spirit of fun and lots of action." The primary staffers in Dragon Ball Daima were revealed in the winter 2024 issue of V Jump, which was published in November 2023. It was also reported that Masako Nozawa will return to her role as Goku. Yūko Kakihara is credited with the series composition and story, while Aya Komaki & Yoshitaka Yashima jointly direct the animation. On January 28, 2024, a second teaser showing Goku was made public during the course of the official Dragon Ball Gaming Battle Hour event. During a webcast of the event, Toriyama's character drawings for the Anime as including several new characters, were displayed. 

On March 1, 2024, Toriyama passed away. His letter for the 2024 Tokyo Anime Award Celebration, in which he accepted their Lifetime Achievement Award, was made public during the event a week later. "But even though I gave suggestions occasionally, I finished up growing heavily connected with the project without realizing it," he disclosed, admitting that Dragon Ball Daima was initially intended to become a unique anime series outside his involvement. 

The series's October premiere was announced via a third trailer and a key visual depicting various characters with the phrase "Hello! Welcome to the Epic Adventure!" both of which had been released on July 19. The precise broadcast information, including the beginning date of 10 October and the completion of all episodes, was revealed by Fuji TV on September 2. Two days later, a second key graphic and a fourth trailer were shown, with the slogan being changed to Welcome to the Demon Realm and two additional characters than the original visual.
