It was Dragon Ball Z : Battle of the Gods. The Japanese animated the scientific community fictional fighting movie Dragon Ball Z: God and God was released in 2013. The first movie in the franchise to be directly overseen by series creator Akira Toriyama, it is the 18th animated movies centered on the the 90s manga series Dragon Ball and the 14th to use the Dragon Ball Z logo. It was the first animated Dragon Ball movie to employ digital ink and paint and the first to be released in theaters in 17 years, the latest having Dragon Ball : Journey to Power. On March 30, 2013, Toei & 20th Century Fox the nation of Japan released the movie in Japan. Available on Blu-ray and DVD on 13 September 2013, it was the first Japanese film ever shown at an IMAX theater. In August 2014, Funimation co-released the translated version of Battle of Gods in American theaters along 20th Century Fox after acquiring the rights to the film. Before showing the English dub in a few cinemas in August 2014, Madman Entertainment purchased the Australasian rights and exhibited the movie during the 2013 Japan festival. In November 2014, Manga Entertainment distributed the movie in the UK. While both films would later be turned into the first and second narrative arcs of Dragon Ball Super, which built upon the premise of both films, a followup, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection was released in Japan in April 2015. While, Beerus' attendant, awakens the God of Disaster from a long sleep. He is shocked to discover, when assessing the status of the universe, that Goku, a Saiyan who was reared on Earth, vanquished Frieza. He remembers that nearly thirty years ago, the Oracle Fish predicted that Beerus would face a formidable foe known as the Super Saiyan Emperor. Beerus then follows Goku to the planet of King Kai, intrigued by the possible challenge. Goku eagerly dares Beerus to battle, but even after becoming into Super Saiyan, he loses handily. Beerus leaves, disappointed, to look for the other Saiyans.
