British novelist Michael Bond's character Paddington Bear is the inspiration for the Paddington media empire. The 2014 movie Paddington marked the start of the franchise. A third movie came out in 2024, and a sequel came out in 2017. The movies have also inspired a short film and a television series. Ben Whishaw provides the audio narration of Paddington in all movies and television shows. Didier Lupfer, CEO of StudioCanal, declared in June 2016 that the studio was dedicated to producing a third Paddington movie. 

Although the script for almost a third Paddington movie was still in the works, David Heyman revealed Digital Spy in November 2017 that talks about potential locations, concepts, and sequences had already started. Heyman stated in November 2018 that although Paul King would continue to be involved in a significant creative role, a third movie was still probably to be made. Paul King, the film's former director, won't be directing this one because he is now directing Wonka. In addition to writing the plot with Simon Farnaby & Mark Burton, King will serve as executive producer. Burton, James Lamont and Foster wrote the script. According to 13th June 2022, there was revealed that Dougal Wilson would be directing the movie, which would be titled Paddington in Peru. Principal photography is currently scheduled to start in 2023, and part of the actors will be returning. Whishaw said he hadn't seen a screenplay yet and wasn't sure whether work was still going on in February 2023. 

Although there were rumors that Paddington in Peru might not proceed because of the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, it was reported in April 2023 that production will resume on July 24. Sally Hawkins resigned from her part as Mary Brown, and Olivia Colman made an appearance in the movie. Given their focus on turning an iconic brand into an internationally recognized phenomenon by exploring the "continuing travel of Paddington regarding an iconic character to an around the world cultural phenomenon, StudioCanal CEO a woman named Guyonnet and head of worldwide revenue Sissel Henno revealed at the Branding and Obtaining a Europe 2024 standards in London that Canal+ has begun production on the next Paddington movie and a companion television series. They anticipate releasing both productions in 2027 and 2028, when the franchise will celebrate its 70th anniversary. Colin Firth was cast as Paddington's voice, Heyman confirmed as the production got underway. The most costly movie made by the French producing business is Paddington.
