When a group of dogs come by the water's edge to fish, a gray-colored cat is wandering through the forest. The cat snatches the fish after two of the animals fight over it, and the dogs start chasing after it. The cat misses the dogs, but before it gets ensnared by an approaching river, it spots a stampede of deer. The dogs and cat make it to higher land after surviving the flood. Before they both realize the water level is fast rising and the Labrador joins both of the dogs on a boat, a yellow Labrador Retriever pursues the cat to an abandoned cottage that is ornamented with wooden cat sculptures. The cat climbs on top of a huge cat statue till the water reaches the very top of the statues's head after the cabin is destroyed by the flood. The cat leaps onto a sailing vessel with a capybara was on board as the statue is fully submerged by the rising water. While attempting to dodge a white secretarybird, the cat jumps overboard and starts to sink as the boat navigates through a half waterlogged woodland the following morning.
A secretarybird instantly grabs it, brings it over the boat, and lets it go after a whale rescues it from drowning. The capybara then asks a ring-tailed monkey to join it with its baskets of trinkets as the saltwater level rises more. The Labrador joins the three animals as they land on shore later that day. When they come upon a group of secretarybirds that are hostile to them, the cat flees before the group corners it. Before the flock deserts it, the secretarybird who initial saw the cat begs its ruler for saving its existence, only to fall in a battle and sustain injuries to its wing. The secretarybird follows the team despite having a reduced capacity for flight.
