When it is discovered that one of the visitors is a companion robot, the trip devolves into mayhem. Warner Bros. Pictures released Companion on January 31, 2025, in the United States. Iris, a young lady, remembers her first encounter with her lover Josh.
They later go to a remote lakehouse where they meet up with pals Kat, Eli and Patrick & Sergey, Kat's lover and the home's owner. Iris kills Sergey in self-defense as he tries to sexually attack her at the lake. Panicked and covered in blood, she heads back to the home. When Josh says, "Iris, who, go to sleep, she passes out. Josh tells Iris, who wakes up strapped to a chair, that she is accompanied by a robot he rents from the robotics company Empathix and that an app on his phone can manage her intellect and emotions. Iris escapes when Josh is preoccupied, takes Josh's phone, and runs away into a neighboring woodland to increase her IQ from 40 per cent to a full 100 percent Eli and Patrick are informed by Josh that he jailbroken Iris using an aftermarket modification.
To murder Sergey and allow Josh & Kat to take twelve million dollars from his safe, she escalated her degree of rage and rendered herself incapable of damage. Josh and Kat maintain that Patrick shouldn't get a portion of the money since he is also a companion, even though Eli & Patrick were asked to support their account. After Eli steals a revolver from Sergey's safe, the gang disperses to look for Iris, where Patrick confesses that he loves Eli despite knowing he's a companion. Iris is located by Patrick and Eli, but during a scuffle, she uses the revolver to kill Eli. Josh takes Sergey's phone to report the vehicle as stolen, which stops it when Iris tries to flee in his self-driving car.
When Iris breaks out of the car, a police officer stops her, but Patrick, who has become more aggressive, murders the officer and takes Iris straight to the home. Disgusted by Josh, Kat tries to take her share of the money and leaves, but Patrick murders her. Josh yells at Iris for being a "nice guy" after calling Empathix to come get an imprisoned Iris, saying she is malfunctioning. He reduces Iris's IQ to zero when she belittles him, turning her into an automaton. He then has her burn her arm with a candle before telling her to fire at self in the brain, what she attempts to, turning herself down.
