Deborah Ann Woll, Vincent D'Onofrio, Elden Henson, Zabryna Guevara,  Margarita Levieva, Nikki M. James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, Ayelet Zurer, Jon Bernthal, Wilson Bethel, and Jeremy Earl also star in the film, which stars Charlie Cox in his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil from Marvel's Netflix television series and previous Marvel Studios films. Cox and D'Onofrio returning to their roles in Marvel Studios productions beginning in 2021 after Daredevil was canceled in 2018, and by March 2022, it was announced that a new Daredevil series was in development. By that May, Corman and Ord had been brought on as lead writers, which gave the show a lighter tone and an episodic format compared to the Netflix series. Born Again's 18-episode first season was revealed in July. Michael Cuesta, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and David Boyd are still given credit for episode they directed, but Corman, Ord, and the prior directors were freed when Marvel Studios chose to redevelop the series by late September 2023. Within a month, Scardapane, Benson, and Moorhead were brought on board, and the strategy shifted to one that was serialized and more closely related to the series on Netflix. The very first season's nine episodes began filming in January 2024 and completed in April. August saw the confirmation of a second season, with production scheduled to start in March 2025. A nine-episode first season of Daredevil: Born Again is set to debut on Disney+ on March 4, 2025. 

It will be included in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Five.Their previous identities intersect as former criminal leader Wilson Fisk stands for mayor of New York City and blind lawyer Matt Murdock battles for justice. Developed by Marvel Television and ABC Studios and based on the character from Marvel Comics, Daredevil, the television series debuted on Netflix in April 2015 and ran for three seasons before being canceled in November 2018. Netflix stated that the name of the character would "live on in future projects for Marvel" and that the three seasons will continue to be available on the service. The deadline Hollywood observed that "the door seems to be wide open" for the series to continue elsewhere, possibly on Disney's streaming service Disney+, opposed to several of the other Marvel Netflix series that were also canceled.The star Charlie Cox expressed his sadness at the abrupt end while expressing excitement about the plans for a fourth season, which he as well as the rest of the cast and crew had anticipated. He was hoping for another chance to play Matt Murdock/Daredevil in some capacity. According to Amy Rutberg, who played Marci Stahl in the show, the entire cast and crew had anticipated that it would run for five seasons, with a final confrontation between Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) in the fifth season and the introduction of an original antagonist in the fourth. Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, contacted Cox in June 2020 about returning to the studio's position on films that took place in their shared universe.Possibly on Disney plus, the streaming channel, "the door seems to be wide open" for the show to keep happening elsewhere.

In March 2022, Cox talked discussed a possible sequel series, which he felt should start about a decade after the previous series finished and be "re-imagined" opposed to picking up where the third installment of that series left off.While he found the comics "more exciting, readable, relatable when it lives in a darker space" such as Brian Bendis and Alex Maleev's run in their comics—he also talked about how a new series couldn't be rated TV-MA like the Netflix series existed. He said the idea that Marvel Studios could still create an actual version of the character with these limitations. Furthermore, he believed that significant character traits like his age, guilt, and past relationships with women were more adult topics.There was allegations later in March that Feige and Chris Gary had been developing a Daredevil remake series. As head writers and managing producers, Matt Corman and Chris Ord were believed to be working on the project for Disney+ in late May. 

The Hollywood Reporter claimed that it would "functionally be its fourth season" and that it was the first Marvel Netflix show to "be recognized as an additional but continued series." It was further referred to as a fourth season by Deadline Hollywood. The series was unveiled as Daredevil: Born Again at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con in July, and this season was reported to consist of 9 episodes.Feige acknowledged that a second season was in the works and referenced to the first season's first episodes in August. Boyd, Cuesta, and Nachmanoff were reaffirmed as the first season's acknowledged directors. Cox stated later that month that the updated version would retain most of the footage shot prior to the makeover. D'Onofrio stated in October that he and other contributors to the original series were happy with the new adaptation.
